On the 10th November Natalie Jenkinson and FarranMckie took part in ‘Hell Runner Down South’, a 10-12mile run up steep hills and through deep muddy bogs. However, the cold weather and muddy terrain was all worthwhile as they were taking part in aid of charity, raising money for the ‘Motor Neurone Disease Association’ (MNDA), in memory of Natalie’s late Auntie Lizzie who lost the fight against MND last year. Home Appliance Guard helped them reach their target by sponsoring them and donating money to the ‘Motor Neurone Disease Association’. You can read Farran’s account of the events of that day below..
“On the 10th of November, the devil on stilts shouted GO! and Nat and I finally started running Hell Runner. After months of worrying about it, not enough months training and some extremely generous people and businesses (Home Appliance Guard!) We set off on a run that would take us over numerous hills and through several smelly bogs. My boyfriend initially suggested I do it and Nat offered to share the pain with me. She also thought it was a great opportunity to raise money for her late Auntie Lizzie and for a truly worthy charity, the Motor Neurone Disease Association.
I had seen the course before, but never run it and apparently this was the hardest course yet. We would get up one hill, just to be faced with another! Our feet were constantly wet, running through rivers and our clothes got soaked running through the bog of doom. Being reasonably short it came up to my neck and the smoke they sprayed at us didn’t help, but Nat was my little motivator the whole way through.
2 hours and 18 minutes later we finished it. It was hard and cold, but absolutely worth it as we managed to raise over £500. Looking back I did really enjoy it and would definitely do it again…I just wish they would host it in the summer!”
