When Lorraine Stone tragically lost her brother Stuart, in July 2011, she decided she wanted to raise money for his favourite charities and help his name live on. So she set up dances, football competitions and other ways to fundraise. However, her real test was her quest to climb Mount Kilimanjaro. Home Appliance Guard helped her fundraise by sponsoring her and followed her journey to the top. Brave Lorraine showed her strength and reached Africa’s highest point, such a wonderful and courageous achievement. Hear from Lorraine below:

“For some, climbing Mount Kilimanjaro is another check box on their to-do list, it was far more than that for me. Like any journey of significance, you learn many lessons that resonate beyond the climb itself. However the climb is testing, stunning and unforgettable. The ever changing scenery, the support from your guides and porters, the community spirit from fellow travellers and watching the clouds roll in and out of the cracks and crevices of the mountain. I’m quite sure that if everyone who reaches the summit still had the energy, they would shed a tear of delight and of relief.”
